Gait Analysis Lab
Background:
In this project we analyzed a group members (Anthony) overall gait in terms of distance and time. The goal was to be able to create a predictive model that could be used to guess the heights of other people.
Procedure:
The class downloaded an accelerator app that measures the X,Y, and Z dimensions of the phone. The next step was to tape the phone to our chest and walk a certain amount of feet to collect measurements of how we walk. After collecting two sets of tests we emailed ourselves the data and formatted the data to google sheets. Using this new formatted data, we created models and graphs to predict how old unknown subjects were by the data collected on how they walked.
Results:
We found out who the mystery objects by analyzing the data of the other specimens gaits. Then using that, we made a prediction to conclude that there the mystery subjects were two adults and one child. Below is my groups spreadsheet that has our data.

Reflection:
Throughout this lab there were many challenges my group and I faced. We had a hard time at first correctly and efficiently interpreting the data. We often got confused by the different data and what exactly we should do with it. A lot of the data we collected didn't seem to line up to make sense. Besides facing some confusion my group and I evenly spread out the work and all communicated and worked well together. This lab was good because it challenged us to think outside of what we are used to. At first we faced some trouble with google sheets but once we knew what to do we were fine. This lab definitely gave me a better understanding of what gait is and what it means.
